Areni is an ancient red grape variety indigenous to Armenia. Zulal, meaning ‘pure’ in Armenian, was created to express the purest characteristics of Armenia’s indigenous grape varieties such as Areni.
High-elevation viticulture, dramatic climatic swings, and volcanic soils converge in Vayots Dzor’s Arpa Valley to give Areni Noir its distinctive, terroir-driven character.
Founded in 2017 by second-generation winemaker Aimee Keushguerian, Zulal, meaning "pure" in Armenian, was conceived to celebrate the unadulterated expression of the country’s ancient indigenous grape varieties.
Sourced from small-production parcels in historic villages like Aghavnadzor and Rind, this bottling captures the true essence of Areni Noir.
